Yes! You beat me to this! One of my all-time favorites. I rarely say a movie is better than a book, but because the movie scenery, costumes and music were so beautiful AND followed the book to a tee, it is better.

I loved the book but found the movie to be insufferable.

Speaking of insufferable. The Twilight movies were much better than the books. Not that the bar was set very high.

Although the BBC's version of P and P with Colin Firth was very satisfying.

As was Mr. Firth -----

Body of Lies by David Ignatius is one of the worst books I've ever read (I picked it up in a hurry at an airport). The film wasn't too bad though, much better than the book anyway. DiCaprio and Crowe were fairly good in it.

Agree with The Godfather and The Princess Bride.

The Hours is an incredible book. I did think the opening of the movie, with the cuts between the three women's lives, was powerful in a way that the book was not. In general I preferred the novel, though.

North & South from the BBC was much better than the book.

The poster who wrote that Game of Thrones is better as HBO series actually made me wince. Unfortunately, there is not a wincing emoticon.

Interesting. I thought this movie looked good but didn't bother seeing it because I, too, hated the book. And I figured the movie is never as good as the book.

I also hated this book. Perhaps I should see the movie...
