DD attended a K-6 that had uniforms, and I have do agree that uniforms do NOT cut down on the bullying.

I think many of the people posting here to criticize sound fairly nasty, honestly. There's a "hens pecking the other hen in a frenzy" quality to this all.

And this is why the vicious bullying cycle will never end. I have never met a mean girl that didn't have a superficial or mean mom, or other serious problems at home. Any Mom secretly proud of having a mean daughter needs to get thee to therapy stat.

Private schools do have power to step in. At my DD's school there was a bully that would target a different girl every few months. Well the parents of the girls that were targeted each met with the school and did not back down. Now the bully has to meet with the school and her parents to work with her issues. They let her know she is the one with the problems. In my other DD's lower grade-5th the mean girls start to come out and they formed their small group. They considered themselves popular because they were always throwing themselves at boys. They started to use mean girl tactics on other girls. I taught my DD there is power in numbers and she connected all the other girls that use to be in smaller groups or were floaters. Now she has a nice large group of 12-15 nice girls so the mean girls don't have any power any more.

Ncs alum here. I fairly low on the social totem pole and I would say the girls were not bullying....just some of them were really snotty. Like,would look at your outfit in a sneering way, would ignore you rather than saying hello when you walked into the room or locker alcove, etc.
