Neither of the houses pictured is really ugly. Just the tract housing of their respective eras. The Ashburn location is just as good for someone working in Dulles as the Arlington location is for someone working in DC. Chill out, people.

It's not walkable to much, but it is damn close to DC. I live very nearby and can be downtown in 10 minutes. Yeah, it's ugly, but if you work downtown, it is very convenient if you drive.

I remember being a teenager - it didn't require thousands of extra square feet. And if yours does, maybe you need to reevaluate.

People rave about Redfin, etc. but this is what they get for their money. Sotheby's will do more for you and you can still bargain down their price to boot.

What is the alternative for this area? An older brick colonial in that price range and similar or slightly more sq.ft would cost over a million easily. New construction starts at 1.5 mil. Ramblers are not bad, at least most living sleeping places are on one floor, less stairs and some people prefer it this way.


Meant to say a colonial in similar size (not price range) would go for over a mil. And new construction probably starts at 1.7 mil more so than 1.5 mil. it's crazy prices for all types of home, no bargains there.


The alternative is to move to another area. Really, Arlington is not worth it, no matter how much you hate commuting.


Says who? You just sound bitter. Yes, we've sacrificed space s that my husband could get that extra 45min every single evening with us. But then again, a mansion was never what we were after. We wanted proximity, good schools, and a reasonable house to call our own. Love how small a county Arlington is. Love how progressive it is. Love its proximity to everything. Love how diverse it is. Love love love. And yes, given the demand, I'd say most people agree with me.


Arlington schools? get back to me when they are in par to fairfax and moxo

You understand that you actually aren't being objective, right? Value is relative. You value more house. Others value a shorter commute and walkability. Others value acres of land.
