Per their website, interviews are not require, but "strongly recommended". (https://www.wlu.edu/admissions/visit/interviews) I've always assumed anything involving college admission that was strongly recommended was actually required. My DC applied and we went down and did it on campus as opposed to asking for an alumni interview under the assumption that not being willing to drive three hours was demonstrating a lack of interest.
