OMG OP - I think this stuff ALL THE TIME about Eliot Francis and I"M Michael Pope. And then I think I'm a horrible person, but I cannot stand their weird reportorial quirks.

Yes, and I cringe when I see even public radio trying to attract younger audiences simply by exchanging anchors for "personalities." Case in point -- I will never understand why NPR dumped Bob Edwards in favor Steve Inskeep. The latter is ok, but still has the on-air manner of a Top 40 DJ.


I like Diane Rehm too.

Armando Trull is the Pat Collins of WAMU.

However, I enjoy the HECK out of Pat Collins. (I hated his reporting when I was younger though. I guess he gets funnier as I age?)

I totally agree with this. And Kojo is so obviously just reading off cards without knowing anything about the subject. I can't stand him.

Actually the official name is the District of Columbia. There is no official mention of Washington anywhere, after Georgetown and Washington were combined into a unified District of Columbia a long time ago.

I LOVE Ofeibia Quist-Arcton!!! (Had to look up that spelling.) She speaks with such drama and excitement. I find her voice completely compelling. Especially how she says "Dakar!"

Kojo is good. Derek Mcginty was excellent. He seems to have faded after leaving his show for TV.

Agree very much. Goodwyn strikes me as a good reporter and a great writer. He's someone for whom radio seems invented.

Also, WAMU seems to have very different editors and style manuals. In the morning, you'd think the name of the Nation's Capital is "DC." It's DeeCee this and DeeCee that. By afternoon, it becomes the more stately "Washington."
