Kalorama, Normanstone, or parts of Forest Hills that border RCP.

I'm DC native and I'd choose Potomac, MD.

Beware the Bethesda and McLean trashers, OP. My guess is they can afford neither. Hence the use of "McMansion". None of my friends in either of these places with beautiful new homes use that word. Just a heads up.

If your friends own a mcmansion they certainly aren't going to describe it as such.

I haven't seen any Bethesda bashing on this thread. Bethesda would be my choice. Hands down.

Question - are there (young) kids in georgetown? Im there quite q bit but never see any. If so, i'd go for georgetown. If not, im thinking palisades, au park, cleveland park, arlington or chevy chase.

But you get that God Awful traffic 24 hours a day!

And the God Awful McMansions. There is zero charm in McLean.

I love the neighborhoods in McLean. Best homes in the DC region.

East Capitol Street anywhere between the Cap building and Lincoln Park on Cap Hill. Do public for elementary and charter or private for middle/high.

what's wrong with charlotte?

Charlotte sucks. I lived there and still have a house there. You can live great in Charlotte for much less than $1 million. You will need that money b/c there won't be anywhere to work. Plus, there is NO culture there.

#1) McLean - it's got the expensive homes, and it's the most convenient location as almost any store or food type imaginable is within 5 minutes because of Tysons Corner. Plus, it's on top of all the major roads - 495, 66, GW Parkway, and the Toll Road. Convenience!

#2) Chevy Chase, MD. More urban. Older moneyish, borders DC. Very walkable.

#3) Potomac, MD. The most gorgeous of anyplace in the DC area by far, but almost no retail at all in the whole town. It just very very residential - like Great Falls, VA.

If you were truly a local you would know that the oldest money neighborhoods in the area are in the District. But you don't know that.

That was not the question so cares about it.

But glad you think you are so cool because you have this intel. I'm 3rd generation here, and I don't know ONE person with a net worth over $1 million who lives in DC. Neither does my billionaire friend. But hey, I'm only 3rd generation here, so maybe you are like 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, who knows. Maybe the money you know is super ancient, like the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria or whatever.

You are kidding me right. More millionaires live in DC per capita. In my neighborhood alone, we have several. Including us, and I feel like we are the broke ones. Actually, we do have a billionaire in DC. It was in Washingtonian. Get out much?

Plus, I am not a fan of Spring Valley, but it is prettier than Potomac.

If moving people to be closer and just pick any city I want? I'd probably pick Portland, OR. Or somewhere in Canada, like Ottawa? Oh, in perfect world the weather is also not a factor.
