There are food allergies and sensitivities that can KILL a child with no further warning. Just because this is not the case, it does not mean that "teachers can only do so much" is an acceptable answer. If a child dies, age, how busy teachers are or whatever is not an excuse. In this situation a little kid is not only hurting, but really sick and will take weeks to recover. Not to mention that this scenario happening often could have tragic outcomes for her future.

And all you people can do is to say this woman is overreacting? You bunch of assholes.

Read this, people. My coworker's 3-year old died from food allergy a month ago. I still dare not ask him what happened. Imagine it is your kid.

Worst nightmare.

My ped told us several weeks ago that a local preschooler had recently died from an exposure at school. Maybe it's the same incident. So terribly horrible to think about.

OP, are you blaming the other kids for giving your daughter a cracker? Or the teacher?

The one person I know who "thinks" her DD has a gluten sensitivity put her whole family on a gluten and dairy free diet (except her DH, he does what he wants because he knows wife is crazy) to try to clear up her oldest DD's dry skin.

Her three children have to suffer through all these dietary restrictions for dry skin! Of course, now mom claims DD reacts when her DD has gluten or dairy, but it is all in her head. I have noticed exposures where there were no problems. But, as soon as one of her kids gets a stomach bug, or a sniffle, or a diaper rash its EXPOSURE OMG! (Not one of her kids has been proven allergic to anything by a test, including oldest DD.)

It is all about mom. Mom loves the control and the attention. She was already a vegetarian before kids were born, and I watched the wheels turning as she became more and more aware of these extreme diet restrictions for kids. Mom has issues of feeling out of control, and being able to restrict her kids' diets makes her feel better. Before going gluten free, she was crazy about the organic stuff, too.

Hey, Chipotle Lady, can you post a followup on the "Potty training and pre school" thread while you are at it?

Enough already you moron. Don't waste your time trying to find me. I have a screen name now so your guessing game is over. I'm not the PP you're quoting. Your post is not funny and you don't seem to be very bright.

There has been multiple people who have recognized you in this thread.

Who said anything about the poor kid? The OP is the same person who routinely posts a sympathetic post, and then as it unwinds it becomes increasingly clear that her primary concern is not about whatever the issue is, it is about her perceiving herself as being disrespected in some way. Then she starts criticizing anyone who disagrees with her. I just hope, for the sake of her daughter, that she's not as egocentric in real life. Doubt it.

Carry on.

My kid has food allergies and was once served regular food at a class party by an unknowledgable parent. However, he didn't eat it so no problems arose, although I did make a bit of a stink with the school over it (I had photographic evidence from the parents who where there of his plate with the regular food on it). On regular days, my kid knows not to eat other kid's food, no matter what. He was 3 when he started preschool and we worked with him alot on that, and they reinforced it at school because lots of kids had allergies and celiac. There was never an issue of sharing food in the classroom - it was highly emphasized. I would work on your own child to stress "this is why you never take food from others".

Sorry to hear about this OP. When you talk to the school, find out what their protocol is for notifying parents if something like this has happened. I know it's not the same, but my daughter is vegetarian and one day her daycare teachers accidentally gave her a real hot dog another kid had sent in for his own lunch (we sent in a fake one). The school called us to notify us and gave us an accident report. In our case, we had no physical consequences, unlike your daughter, so it wasn't a big deal to me. I do have another child who has nut and peanut allergies, so I understand perfectly how upsetting this is to you. Perhaps the teachers didn't actually give your child the cracker, but she got it from another child. In my food allergic kid's class, they have quite a few kids with food issues and I think some of them have to sit separately from the others during meal times. It's not a perfect solution, obviously, but hopefully you can figure something out.

Good luck.

Anonymous wrote:This is the funniest thread in a long time. OP, if you're this worried about your 2 1/2 year old, then maybe you ought to watch her yourself all day long instead of blaming everyone else.

Yummy crackers probably means that she is dying to eat like other normal human beings her age.

WTF is wrong with you? Funny why? Because my daughter is defecating blood? Or because she's anemic and spent the weekend in bed without any energy to play? What's funny about it?

Did you even take time to read the thread? Why people post such things? Do you get a thrill out of making others feel bad?

So, in your opinion every child with food allergies or sensitivities should be homeschooled?

What exactly did your pediatrician say about this?

Did your read the thread? OP said her pediatrician said it sounded like the child had eaten something with gluten in it -- hence the pooping blood!

Poor child! No energy all week from anemia and pooping blood -- that is a very bad sensitivity to what was probably just a single cracker or something. This isn't just a little mild tummy upset OP is talking about.

Why do people assume that if she talks to them she is going to go in with guns blazing? Nothing in her original post or even subsequent posts indicate that she is going to be crazy.

Thank you, PP. I don't really get why they're thinking I'm going there to pick a fight.

Well, you wanted to pick a fight with the dude in Chipotle who gave you the "stinky" eye, so it's not really much of a leap.
