np, here: OP - you seem to have many things go missing! Perhaps it is due to your other issues and not that others are stealing from you? It seems strange that your experience with the organizing people and all of the consigners in your area add up to something else going on.

I have recommended this blog before, and it's not for everybody (profanity, etc), but unfuckyourhabitat.tumbler.com is a fantastic resource for learning to deal with clutter in your home and life.

basically, the premise is that you pick a project (example: dining room table clutter) and deal with it in a series of "20/10s" - set a timer for 20 minutes, clean for that long, take a break for 10. repeat until done. the emphasis is on just DOING something rather than building it all up in your head (which, OP, you seem to be doing, based upon your multiple posts). don't worry about ALL the things you need to do - pick the one that is most visible (flat surfaces, countertops, living areas...) or most dire (i.e., you can't cook or clean because your sink is overflowing, or whatever). you'll see that it's NOT such an insurmountable problem, and it WILL take time, but you don't need to go into a home-organizing, deep-cleaning marathon.

20 minutes a day. see if you can get your family onboard too and it's even more. I'd even suggest taking before-and-after pictures. so you feel like you spent a whole day & all you've done is organized a bookshelf? look at the "before" picture and you'll realize how far you've really come.

What you are looking for is not an exceptional level of organization (the purview of some organizers) but the strategies and functioning of an ordinary well-organized, well-run home. This is why I would look for a different kind of help.

I didn't read all the responses, but I would advertise on Craigslist or on a bulletin board at a local library for help. I would outline briefly some of what you've posted here - some ADHD and some related issues in the family. I feel like the right person to help you might be someone who is a SAHM right now but with a background in social work or psychology or something like that - someone level headed and kind who will be able to to provide help and take it on as a PT job. I have a couple of mom friends, for instance, who are looking for PT work and who would be well suited to this. I'm not sure a professional organizer will be exactly right though you could interview some.

I agree that you may have ADD or executive function problems. I would seek a diagnosis only because it will help to understand yourself better and may lead to the possibility of taking medications which could help you. As a result of my daughter's diagnosis, my husband got a diagnosis because he could see himself in her and has dealt with many of the same issues. He did get an ADD diagnosis and tried 2 different meds to see if they would have any effect. The first did not work as well. The second is really helping him and he can tell a big difference when he does not take it. He is much more, focused, organized and has a much better ability to prioritize, which I think is honestly the biggest problem with executive function problems. I also think that you might want to seek outside help to organize and declutter your house - not so much to spend a fortune organizing but helping figure out HOW to organize. Might be a good investment in your sanity. Also, read the book " Delivered from Distraction" to give you ideas and help you see the positive side. My husband is scatterbrained and disorganized, but he is ceative and thinks outside the box and this has helped him in his work and makes him who he is. The same is true with my daughter.

I mean kid activity. Kid can do soccer OR art class OR first in lego league but not 2 or 3
