I'm "book smart," and love words, reading, and learning, but higher math makes my head spin and I'm terrible at anything requiring spatial relations. DH is not "quick" verbally, but that man understands how things work like nobody's business, gets "systems," sees the larger picture, and is great at complex math. He can build or fix anything and is very physically aware and athletic. It's early yet, but it appears that DS (6) is much like dad and DD (4) is much like me. Just becaue DH got Cs in Freshman English doesn't mean he isn't "wicked smart" because he can do things that leave me totally befuddled.
ITA. As a kid, I was considered very smart and have the resume to "prove" it. DH was not considered that smart and wasn't pushed in school, yet I would consider him smarter than me and better at life in general. I have 3 kids. The oldest probably has the highest IQ, but man that kid is lazy. My middle child has drive and ambition like nobody's business - I am not worried when he brings home average grades because I know he will always land on his feet. My youngest is super smart and laid back but has an entertainer's personality. Again, I'm not worried. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses - IQ is nothing but a number when you're driven.
