20016 has the most number of legal guns in the District. They're waiting for you...

When the mob rises, sure, keep thinking these guns are going to save you.

Those guns and our Israeli mercenaries should be sufficient. Worked in New Orleans.

When the 99% rise, it won't work. do the numbers. why would you stick around anyway, unless you are dumb, just go to your summer home or something.

Heh.

Here in Arlington, we'll use pitchforks. They're greener.

Nope! No worries of such ugliness in Arlington. We aren't wealthy over here. Just plain old, middle class people who can stay out of the coming class war.

(Shhhh...let's keep fooling the person who hates Arlington (and says it on every.single.thread) and doesn't think any of us are in the top 1%.)

Haha. Arlington. The inferiority complex is startling.

Do you really want me to "out" you? Have fun keeping up with the Joneses. It must be tough- no wonder you are such a miserable person. Have you managed to insult everyone I your new neighborhood too? Where will you move next when that happens? Hmmm- maybe to Great Falls where you can then proceed to bash McLean.

You dipped your toe into this water and now realize it's a bit too hot and you got all pissy. Girl please. Look at the title of the thread. I stand by my assertion that Arlington is overrated (especially on these boards) and has ZERO aspirational qualities. People hope 1 day that they make enough money to move to parts of NW, Mclean/Great Falls, Potomac and Bethesda/Chevy Chase. I've never heard someone say "When I'm CEO/partner I'm going to move to Arlington YEAH!". So yeah DCUM overrates Arlington. Deal with it.

You are too funny. The majority of my neighbors used to be home owners in NW. There is no way I'd move to Great FAlls or MClean--where I can actually find a home cheaper and bigger than the one I am in. Yea--if I could get one of those big MAnsions in Kalorama I am there--but not any of teh NW suburbs--not thanks.

ITA. And you're right. Never the twain shall meet. I'm in the first camp and it's just so weird that the big house/yard/car people seem so MAD at us. I don't get it. They seem so resentful that we don't covet what they do. As if we're not living the "American" way or something.

I see no one has responded to these statements.

I think its actually just your self-absorbed impression that everyone is MAD at you. Really, nobody cares about you. Except maybe to feel sorry for you when its pouring rain and you are schleping 2 kids and your groceries and dry cleaning in the rain.

As if. You barely see anyone in the crosswalk, much less the sidewalk with groceries and dry cleaning, in your mad rush to get home to the exurbs in your bigass SUV, all so you can watch your stories and eat your chips.

The Columbia Pike area hasn't really materialized yet. It was hyped up a lot 5-10 years ago. Sure glad we didn't "invest" around there.

I'm the poster that said God help us. We almost moved to TX this past year since it is where my husband is from. Austin is a nice town, but not all that much cheaper real estate wise if you want to live in neighborhoods with the best schools.

I wouldn't move anywhere other than Austin. Unfortunately, the state government is insane, as well as the state school board.

I'd have to agree with a few other cynical posters the whole DMV is over rated. I wouldn't be surprised if DC becomes the next Detroit. Watch the government shrink along with the jobs. Everything will move to Texas someday.

Texas and the Southland only work as long as there's (relatively) cheap oil and access to air conditioning.

I think most people are aware that those who feel the need to put others down are doing so to build themselves up, i.e., they are the ones who feel inferior. Every time you post your nasty vitriol about Arlington, you seem more and more insecure.

I don't get why you people gang up on the lady who posted an earnest if longish description of McLean. I think she gave an accurate assessment of its advantages, and I don't think she dumped on any other areas other than to say that McLean is less expensive than NW DC or Arlington, which is accurate. Why is it a bad thing to like McLean and explain why you like it? OK, McLean isn't cosmopolitan or very urban, but that's not the only way to evaluate neighborhoods, is it?
