I basically only use my facebook page to share pictures of my baby. That said, I work with survivors of sexual abuse, and it's always someone the family knew and allowed to spend time with the child. Random stranger attacks are extremely rare, although child abuse is fairly common.

I am suprised this is such a hot topic. Instead of posting pics to Facebook, just email to a select group of entitled people.

This. I may seem psycho about my privacy settings, but my hubby is also in LE, so we try to be careful while using the web to keep in touch with far-flung friends and fam. I haven't posted pics of DD1 since she was 10 mos old.

OP - can you expand on what your concern is with people you don't know seeing what your baby looks like?

Every time you go out in public people you don't know are going to see your baby. Unless you pull a Michael Jackson and cover the baby's face when out, people are going to see her.

There are millions of pictures of babies online - on blogs, social media sites, photographers websites, online photo albums...what is your concern with a pic of your child being out there?

I just don't really understand what your concern is.

You can't.

You can make it harder for people to share photos you post online, but as long as it is in digital form, if you post it, there's a way someone can share it.

SO never post ANYTHING that you aren't comfortable with the whole world seeing.
