I just refused to use it after a few years of horror stories.

FSAFeds is usually difficult to use and they reject claims constantly. We gave up; it was easier to itemize health expenses on our taxes. Wasn't worth it, since they hated giving our money back to us.

I agree it’s a PIA- I’m tryong to get copays reimburses abd they are so dam picky as to what they need for reimbursement.

FSAFEDS Is awful! Plain and simple. I have had no end of problems with them. My claims are submitted from the insurance co. (MHBP/Aetna) and when they hit FSA FEDS the amount for my copay on several claims is like .56 cents instead of the 20 bucks I paid and wanted reimbursed. The list of issues goes on and on from denying claims for dental to telling me I had been reimbursed from insurance which was never the case. I wish there was a complaint line because when you call you just get the run around. This rollover season I am going to see if my insurance carrier has their own FSA and I will go with them.

This really worries me, as I'm about to try this routine -- but for an implant + crown. Out of curiosity, did it you manually submit or did the automatic reimbursement system try to run the claim? So far, we've only used the health account for usual co-pays, which run automatically, and they just "go through."

I'm not that PP, but I've manually submitted a claim for a crown and had it approved (I thought I had linked my dental insurance to submit automatically but I hadn't) and I've had one submitted automatically that was approved. I've never had anything rejected by FSAFeds in the 3 years I've been using it.

But that only works if health expenses eat more than a certain percentage of income, right? Aren't I trapped into FSA Feds if I want to pay for health insurance and then count up my $500 per year in little bills?

Who bounced checks? Not FSAFeds?

I can't enroll FSAFeds Even though I am able. After too many cancellations and two bounced checks total of $35.00. I had a supervisor hel me reenroll and then they cancelled me again because they said I did it wrong. Twice it showed I had money and the moment I put my claims in - they wiped my money out back to nothing! I deleted the app because I am waaaaayyyy upset. I still am.

Interesting - I've been a fed for a little less than a year now. I have nothing but good things to say about FSAFEDS. So far it's mostly been dental stuff for my husband and everything has gone through smoothly. I did get a one denial, but that's because our dentist messed up and charged us the wrong copay amount so I had to wait for the EOB to get processed by the insurance company.

I submit an itemized receipt if I have it, but for small copays I've been able to get away with non-itemized receipts. I've never had a problem with legibility. I either scan receipts or take a picture with my phone and upload to the online claims. When submitting a receipt that includes non-eligible expenses I'll bring it into MS paint and put a red square around the claim items and indicate the tax amount. It takes me 10 minutes max. I save all the files so if something gets denied I can make some changes and resubmit all the documentation quickly/easily.

I'm branching out a bit - I just submitted a claim that required a letter of medical necessity (for an exercise program) - we'll see how it goes.

As for those who just plan to itemize on taxes, you can't deduct medical expenses unless they exceed 10% (7.5% for seniors) of your income. So really, unless your out of pocket medical expenses are really high FSA is much more tax advantaged.

What a nightmare! I have always had a problem and I provide documentation. I work for the Government and retired from service but man if this is the example I have had a enough. get denied code with no explanation. I did it for tax break but now increasing my TSP and get out of this program. Hope ever who runs this great idea poorly managed program looks in the mirror. I

FSA Feds is horrible! My husband recently became a fed and we signed up this year. They have already rejected two claims that are clearly copays and I was instructed to write copay on the receipt and resubmit. They are still pending so who knows if they will actually go through, but what a mess.

With previous companies, I always just uploaded the receipt and my money was in my bank account within a few business days. I don't understand what the big deal is??

As I understand it, the company that administers FSA gets to keep any unclaimed money, so there is an incentive for them to slow down and deny claims. If that's true, what a B*S* way to structure a benefit program.

I've been using FSAFEDs for more than 6 years and never really had a problem. I noticed, this year, that two of my claims were erroneously denied. The reviewers seem to be a little less competent lately. I've called, explained THEIR mistake (both times they misread easy-to-read day care receipts and did not correlate the receipt to the claim dates I submitted online), and resolved the issues, but who feels like the hassle? Long story short, I felt like OPM, which administers the contract, needed to know about the lackluster service of the contractor. I called OPM and they noted that one can log a complaint at fsa@opm.gov. I encourage everyone to speak up to OPM if the FSAFeds reviewers are hosing you.
