Tally ho, bitches. I suppose I could get a 2BR place downtown if I went there often enough.

I had a friend who lived in Middleburg. He moved to - wait for it - Arlington. The commute to DC was far too long from Middleburg.

So your friend had to actually work? Pity.

For me, its not about money, or what others think or politics or services or taxes or commutes or whether someone wears Tory Burch or Lands End and I don't give a fig what anyone drives or whether they shop at Whole Foods or Costco. For me it is about the roots I've grown here, and the sense of community and interconnectedness I feel with others who live here. If you can say that about the place you live, wherever it is, count yourself lucky. I'm pretty sure it exists on both sides of the river.

Fun post; thanks for sharing.

I'm sure many others who live both in DC and further away from DC than Arlington have had similar experiences, but it's always nice to hear how people manage to create a sense of community and belonging in a big metropolitan area.

Another Arlingtonian here. I feel the same way you do.

Too funny! We drive our kids to your pricey private schools (one of the "Big 3" no less) from Arlington. And since our HHI is north of $2MM, I find the comment about smaller budgets laughable. We have a huge budget; we just choose to spend it more wisely by living in an area with lower taxes. Indeed, we will laugh all the way to early retirement.

I think you're a liar. Also that 1.6% in tax savings won't make a difference. And if you really made that much money you wouldn't make your living decisions on something so insignificant.

I'm the $2MM poster. I am not posting my tax returns to prove anything. I frankly don't care whether you believe me or not.

And no, the savings alone aren't why we live in Virginia. We also like not destroying our cars by driving over roads that are so terrible they can barely be called paved. We like the lower crime rate. We love the excellent snow removal and trash pick-up. We like not having to worry about which member of our county board is going to be indicted next. We even like that we have voting representation in Congress.

Not everyone with money lives in the city, and that is our choice. Just because you wouldn't make the choice doesn't mean that we don't exist.

Sorry for calling you a liar. You are a liar AND a troll. When you drive into DC to bring your kids to school to you magically float over the roads that you deem to be so terrible? Also it's funny you resorted to the 90s troll code phrases of "snow removal" and "trash removal". Please. DC removes snow just as fast if not faster.I remember in 2009 when there was that ice storm and Nova was basically at a standstill. And I guess when you wake up you worry about things like having a seat in Congress, honestly I wonder about how my day is going to be And you may not worry about which council member is getting indicted but since all of your tax dollars go to Richmond and don't come back you're just sinking money into a hole. And the crime is no higher in my neighborhood than in yours so please let the Marion Barry days stay in the past. Troll.

Most of the main arteries aren't as poorly paved as the side streets, which I avoid, since I actually try not to drive through people's neighborhoods. Coincidentally, I have read many threads on here complaining about commuters driving through your precious neighborhoods. Why slam me now for NOT doing that?

I have never heard of the "90s troll code." Tried Googling it, but I guess it is a code that exists only in your own tiny mind. And while you have a point about the VA tax dollars staying in the less populated Southern part of the commonwealth, I still pay lower taxes here than I would in DC or Maryland. You cannot change that fact. And our services are still generally better than yours, because our government is better managed than yours. But there is no point arguing that fact with you, as you are clearly one of those people who ignores or disparages any fact that doesn't support your prejudices.

You resentment for those with more money than you is palpable. And while you direct so much anger at me, I feel only pity for you. I do not think you are a liar or a troll - just a bitter and close-minded person.

Why would I resent someone "with money" when we earn about as much as you claim to earn and that's not including inheritance. You deemed worthy to announce to the world how much you made. You were the puff adder "Hey look at me I make so much money and I live in Arlington". Great. But no one asked you about it. But again for someone making that much money you seemed so worried about the little things that I or my neighbors have never seemed to care about. Thus I don't believe you.

And no your services are NOT better than me. My alarm went off one night and the cops showed up in less than 2 minutes. I've never had crime in my neighborhood, heck I've left my car unlocked countless times (not smart yes). No one here is complaining because they can't find a park for their kids or because they don't get their mail. I should know we have Netflix coming everyday. We've had to get building permits and that's also been a breeze. You don't even live here and yet you seem to know exactly how things work. But everything you claim to know is what my parents talked about in the 1980s-90s which goes to prove that you're just being a bitch for the sake of it. Look my initial point was simple, if you're going to public school then YES Arlington is better after elementary, but it's not a panacea, and not fairy land, and if you can afford private there is no overwhelming reason to move. And after reading some of these posts there are tons of reasons why I'd never cross that bridge.

I don't believe you. Flat out don't believe that anyone of means feels the need to insult a whole geographic area for its alleged lack of wealth. I can say nice things about Arlington, and will defend Virginia from the ignorant attacks that it gets on this board from people like you. I am not bragging when I say my HHI; how could I be - it is an anonymous board. I am merely refuting your claim that people of means would never, ever deign to live in Arlington. We do. But if you do make that much money, then you have made it abundantly clear to anyone reading your tired little tirades that money does not buy class.

FYI, we used to live in NW, so I do know how things work there. You have nothing to brag about. But I must agree with one statement: your assessment of yourself as "not smart."

PP you're the "I cross chainbridge every day" mom. We've read your posts. We get it Ms $2million.
