I'm eager to hear more of Cora's backstory -- how did her family make its money? whose idea was it for her to come to England to marry a noble -- hers or mom's? how did she meet Robert? was she instantly smitten? whose idea was it for Robert to marry and American heiress -- I bet the Dowager Countess had a hand in that!

Can't wait! I watched episode 5 last night and nearly cried when Matthew saw his mother for the first time since he was injured.

I think Shirley MacLaine is going to be amazing. I always like her in whatever I see her in, and I already love the soapy bubble wonderful that is DA.

PP @ 12:00, they cut about half an hour per episode, apparently. That is far more time than Laura Linney uses.

The first season, they cut tons about the entail. I don't know what they are cutting this year.

I learned on the Post's TV chat yesterday that PBS cuts stuff Out of DA to make time for the Laura Linney bits at the beginning and end of Masterpiece, so we might all be better off watching on DVD/Amazon.
