Anonymous wrote:Holy cow people. There was a monster thread on this in Beauty/Fashion forum a few months ago that played out exactly like this.
Why don't we just take the lessons learned from that thread and move on? This is what came of it:
Today's size 12 was really a size 18 a few decades ago, and a size 18 in the US is really a size 22 in the UK, and obviously anyone who is a size 22 is obese. So yeah, obese.
Or something like that, anyway.

Again, it depends on the person's body type. I know this is impossible for some folks on this thread to believe but if you met me and I told you I was a size 14 you wouldn't believe me and I'm 5' 4".Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Size 12 is neither fat nor thin but just edging toward chubbiness.
this (obviously leaning more towards chubby as you get shorter)

Other daughter at 5'8" is 135 and a size 4. Have no idea where she carries it. She looks very long and lean. Size means nothing. Thank god I have always told my daughters that . You who think it is about a size are nuts. We all look great in clothes and know what works on us. I think my daughter who is 5'5" is the happiest with her body. Think Sophia Vergara.

As it is, people (friends) always refer to me as thin (which always takes me back because I don't "feel" thin. If I mention loosing weight I get the eye roll of "are you nuts? you're fine!".
If I gain 15 pounds (150), I'm a 10 and I"m definitely over weight. Not chubby per say but slightly overweight. I've never been a 12 (yet!) but on my frame that would mean 165 and I'd be quite chubby.
How old are you?

This is me as well. In high school I was very active, took PE every term whether it was required or not, played softball, ran or rode my bike after school etc. I was a size 9 pants and sometimes a 12 in the shirt because I had boobs. I did everything I could to try and be thin and it just wasn't in the cards. I'd be thrilled to be a size 12 again (hell, I'd settle for a 14) and if anyone tried to tell me I was fat I'd knock them into next week!Anonymous wrote:"Fat" is relative. I'm a size 18 and would love to be a size 12. That would be thin for me. The last time I was a size 12 was in 1988. I'm 41.
