Not the pp, but I would take a taxi if there was an emergency. I only drive a few times a year, so I can be pretty sure that it won't be on Halloween - I'm sorry that you structured your life so that you may have to drive at any point and can't even imagine that anyone else wouldn't be in the same situation.

By the way, I am one of those that had no alcohol but will remember it for next year. I admit to stealing candy from my child as she was distracte by the next house. It was good. So, I did it again. And, it was still good. She is not deprived.

Why does everyone equate having a drink with being drunk. One or two drinks over the course of several hours doesn't make you drunk or too drunk to drive.

I'm of the opinion you can drink responsibly. It seems the no drinking crowd here (which I also think is actually just 1 person - the OP) thinks you're either sober or blind drunk. Their kids are gonna be juuuuust fine.

We are just letting the young kids see what life is really about at a young age. Thats all,.. is it to early to learn... is it really that bad. You come home from your miserable job,... to your miserable spouse... and screaming kids hollering..I WANT CANDY... you sit down to a dinner that is burt to hell and back... and look at your wife who was making it with the plumber all day as she looks at her husband who was banging the 20 year old secretary instead of really being in that meeting. You have to do something to deal and drownd out your misery. Such is life in middle America

No I think the no alcohol crowd has had to pay enough for higher insurance premiums because eventually these people will get behind the wheel and drive home and most likely kill someone on the road.


Except on Halloween, we're all in our neighborhoods walking around with our kids. No one is driving anywhere. So your point makes no sense. (And for the exceptions when people do drive to go trick or treating, let's assume these folks have the sense not to drink.)

No I think the no alcohol crowd has had to pay enough for higher insurance premiums because eventually these people will get behind the wheel and drive home and most likely kill someone on the road.

Sooo...by your logic, children should never attend weddings (most have alcohol and most adults drink it). Not to mention that most holidays around here (Fourth of July, etc.) usually involve parents having a beer or wine.

I think the "no alcohol" crowd must have had alcoholic parents or something. They seem to think that any amount of alcohol is bad and that by drinking a beer or two, the parents must be drunk and acting crazy. That just simply isn't the case with most people who drink recreationally.
