It's a great name. For a plant.

I think it is lovely, but may be a little hard for kids to say!

Considering little Hyacinth would be a year old now, or more, perhaps OP can come back and tell us what she decided.

Lovely flower -- my favorite -- but the Hyacinth Bucket association nixes it for me. That said, my kid has a name startlingly similar to an 80s pop star. It never even occurred to me, but apparently occurs to everyone else. So do what you want.

I like it a lot. I don't think the sound is very pretty, but the flower is.

I considered Lilac for my daughter, but went with Lila instead. Because the sound is harsh to me. I still associate her with lavendar flowers.

Granted, a television show really should not sway your decision at all if you love it. It just seems that people react to a perceived pretentiousness here...it could be hard to pull off if you are not British.

Rose and Lily are lovely names in our immediate family that we've considered for our daughter, but beware they are getting extremely popular right now. We are passing because of it.

Laurel is SUCH a lovely name! Kudos!

Perhaps Iris?

OP, I think it is lovely and unexpected, like a girl we met recently named Poplar. Who cares if a bunch if grumps on DCUM have a bad association with the name because of a TV show? You don't, and her peers won't. (And for the record, I'm between 15 and 85, watch PBS often, and have never heard of this show.)

Seems like a little much.

My first thought is the children's book 'Chrysanthemum'. Anyone know what I mean?

I think of (water) Lily and Hibiscus.
