No, I am a AAP 6th grader and I took my math SOL today. I believe that AAP 6th graders only take the math 7 SOL, considering that we took the 6th grade SOL in 5th grade.

SOL scores at our school were given out to all the kids. They took home a printed copy of their scores. I hope they made it home!

SOL have had a positive impact overall. More resources were given to my DC when they had troubles with SOL. Never would have happened without SOLs

in the mail over the summer.

Think about the teacher. Teachers have to set SMARTR goals. Schools set SIP goals. Many times they are based on SOL scores.

Are schools supportive of opting out? I would assume th ed would be resistance from the administration.

I think they have to take a "0" for that student. That would be frowned upon.

Are you going to opt out of AP tests, ACT/SAT etc. etc. Your child should not have a problem with passing the SOLs since they are testing the bare minimum. However, if your child has not seen the types of questions they ask, then your child might have a problem. To tell your child that it is a grade for the teacher is ridiculous! If they bomb their tests, blame it on the teacher instead of the student. If the student doesn't prepare/study for a test, the blame goes to the student.
