ME-OW! Are you the butihave author? If not, why such a bitchy comment? If you are, I have to break it to you that eating hot dogs is not a sound weight loss plan. LOL
No, not the author, just a former biglaw attorney with kids who hated bitchy female partners, like the PP. They do other female lawyers no favors and are usually the most unsympathetic to women who want more of a work/life balance.
I'm PP and I'm not a partner. And trust me, I know all too well about the bitchy female partners who screw over other women...I've had 3 kids at the firm, I clearly am not making partner. That doesn't mean I have a lot of sympathy for an over-indulged former biglaw associate who is ABLE to stay at home b/c she happened to marry another biglaw attorney. Do you really not understand the irony of her bitching about biglaw, all the while being able to get away from it b/c her husband is still in biglaw? There are just so many things wrong with supporting her.
Listen, she has every right to make choices that she feels are best for her family. That is totally fine and I won't begrudge her that. But she bitches about it all - biglaw, married to biglaw, staying at home. And for that, I don't like her blog. I wasn't going to go on here and say one thing or another about it, but if she can post about her blog and what makes it so great, I certainly offer up my opinion as well.
Thank you, yes! It's funny that she goes on and on about big law sucking, but she fails to see that it's what is supporting her being able to stay home. Also, she needs to stop whining about how she's still "adjusting" to staying at home, by my count she hasn't worked in over a year (with all the various leaves of absence she has been granted). The only thing she's adjusting to is not being paid for sitting home. But, overall I just think it's all kind of a downer--I'm also former big law turned SAH (with similar aged kids), so I know her situation well--and I just think she's a "glass half empty" kind of person.
Anyway, of course we can criticize her blog just like we are free to criticize any other form of "entertainment." She started the blog and then pimped it all over the net. She's clearly trying to use it to make money, it's not just her simple mom-blog that she was keeping for friends and family that we all randomly came across. If she's upset that the criticism is personal, well, what did she expect when she turned her personal life into money making fodder? Plus, most of the criticism I've seen deals with people talking about how they don't like her attitude or her content or agree with her choices, which is pretty par for the course.
And she is a BAD WRITER. What about that?

Biglaw is the top firms. Dickstein is not anywhere near that list.

You must have missed these few:
"Also, her husband is a douche."
"Google Nie Nie. That bitch makes Amalah look like a saint!"
"ME-OW! Are you the butihave author? If not, why such a bitchy comment? If you are, I have to break it to you that eating hot dogs is not a sound weight loss plan. LOL"

I'm with you! I've never visited DCUM before, but now I realize that everything I've heard about it is true-- a ton of rude folks looking to stir things up with no real objective information to share. If you don't like a blog, then don't read it. Simple. If you do, feel free to share it. Wasn't that the point of the original message in this thread.
Don't think I'll be returning here. For all the talk about people being full of themselves on their blogs, I'm thinking some self-reflection is ironically much in need!
So...let me get this right...if somebody says, I love "x" blog b/c of this, I'm not allowed to say, well, I hate "x" blog b/c of this...?
Self-reflection typically requires some discomfort...including criticism. I'm one of the posters who is negative to the former big law blogger. She has done quite a lot of self-promotion on this site. Why shouldn't I be able to say - as a biglaw attorney and mom, I don't like her and here are my reasons why? Seems to me that if you were really interested in self-reflection, you'd welcome criticism...
There's constructive criticism and then there's name-calling, which the vast majority of the negative posts here include. (What with the anonymity, though, it's impossible to say who said what.) All I'm saying is that this forum seems like a vast pit of negativity, just like I've heard about DCUM in the past. This is what we're told to warn our kids about for when they get active online! Ha!

Well, this is a thread about favorite blogs. Maybe a new thread about blogs that suck is in order?
