I've followed the Ashley Turton story from the beginning, as it was a truly compelling cautionary tale of "having it all" and "losing it all."
My takeaway is that the world is increasingly stressed out, and as a result of all this hectic frantic-ness, seemingly smart people are doing really dumb things like drinking to excess. This sort of "release" is fraught with problems, yet it continues. "Just having a bit of fun!" Take a look at Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda getting giggly and smashed on morning TV. The ratings soar and the behavior is condoned.

yeah, I think racism is a big part of this story. 
horrible tragedy. no idea if she was an alcoholic or not. however, she apparently was drunk that night or that morning. surprised no more details came out since this story a few months ago.
