What about Canterbury Tales? We were required ("allowed" - strict religious school) to read the Miller's Tale. I think the teacher would have been in trouble if the admin knew the weird stuff he talked about in class - he was a "troubled soul" and was often "prayed for."

52 in entirety, probably about 10-20 more in part. Interesting list of high and low.

I had to read Ulysses in 10th grade. Public school in CT. I also took an awesome class on Gothic Lit which is where I read the Bronte sisters and another class that covered Orwell and Huxley. I'd say of the ones I've read on the list, probably half are from high school.

37 - some I've tried to read but lost interest. Others I own but haven't read yet. It is a strange list.

I've read 37 and I read a lot so some of you really read a lot.

Read 42, read about 5 partially and didn't like them, own about 5 more that I haven't read yet.

42. I only counted the ones I have read in their entirety. It's a weird list; I don't get the duplicates.

But was it Ulysses? I'd guess Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, which is quite a different work. I don't know anyone who would teach Ulysses to sophomores.

70 or so. But I'm sure I read at least 20 of them for middle and high school.
