What kind of person thinks like this?
You don't get to where Musk is without exploiting workers, rules, regs. He's worth over a trillion when people are homeless and dont have enough to eat. He's a sociopath. Further, he could give back way more than he does now. The fact he doesn't speaks volumes of his morality and humanity.
How did he exploit workers? Did he put a gun to their head and force them to work at the company? They could have quit at anytime. You’re just Aaother clueless socialist lib who survives on govt handouts. Go get a job.
SpaceX lives on government handouts
Bunch of clueless libs on this thread. It’s not a handout if the company is providing a service/product for the govt. Do you expect SpaceX to transport govt satellites to orbit and astronauts to the ISS for free? SpaceX does it cheaper and faster than the govt could ever do in its wildest dreams.
Now welfare is a govt handout. The govt gets nothing in return except more single mothers with lots of babies who are dependent on the govt.

The second (space for hire, like to NASA) does pretty well and also they have shown this has really good potential. The bulk of their losses are from the AI/X (Twitter) portion, mostly because AI takes huge resources and capital costs. I think they should split it off if it's not working out. The other businesses are decent. THat's why I dont' thikn the stock will nosedive once the lock-up period is over. For example, who's going to compete wtih Starlink? They have thousands of satellites up already.
As for those who became very wealthy, they generally worked hard, and also chose to take options in lieu of a higher salary. The IPO was not guaranteed.. it was talked about for years. More power to them.

What an ignorant prick.
I'm OP: I moved to this country with no family, no connections, and just one suitcase. I got a scholarship to a good school because I worked hard. I worked non-stop throughout college while my parents were divorced, mother SAHM and my father is an alcoholic who abused me. The UMC white kids at my school partied and never worked the work I did. It paid off and now I'm supposed to feel pity for some random person who's jealous of hard work?
This is what America was made on and I will always remain grateful for this country that lifted my family out of GENERATIONAL poverty at the likes an American cannot comprehend.
I'm so sorry everyone. I meant to write PP not OP. I derailed the thread.
You’re definitely not the OP. I am the OP! DH and I are white / Caucasian, BTW, and we live in the DMV area – he works remotely for SpaceX with a focus on Gov Affairs. DH started at a pretty entry level in 2021 in BD and USG account management and spent 2-3 years as a grinder before moving up in the ranks.
His most recent equity refresh was a couple of months ago and was for 60,000 shares, none of which has vested yet.
People keep referencing these silly articles about the hundreds of employees that are worth $100M+ and the 4400+ that are millionaires, but this is mostly unvalidated speculation and includes unvested equity. Truth is that a bunch of employees sold their shares internally or timed out on stock options. Those with RSUs still need to be vested and are outside the lockout period to sell.
Anyway, by DCUM accounting rules, I guess we should include everything that has been granted, so today those SPCX shares are valued at $45M. Not bad considering we’re only in our mid 30s.
