Isn’t it too late to organize a summer 2026 trip to Disney??

My parents took us to Disney when I was a teen and I really didn’t want to be there, but felt pressured to “enjoy” the trip.

We aren’t particular about being in the parks or passes for certain rides. No true preference on spending a particular amount of days either. No one is a huge Disney fanatic that needs to do a certain activity. Moreso this is planned as a trip to experience the experience at least one time.

I would not spend Disney money if you aren’t that into it, especially Florida in August! We went to Disney A LOT, more times than I can remember and on both coasts. Disney is unique in that one trip can be the most magical trip ever and another trip can be the 7th circle of hell. The magical times all involved low crowds, off season and kids being younger.

If you are intent on going, go now. I wouldn’t take an infant there. It is a Petri dish and everyone comes home with some virus. With measles flying around now it’s even more of a risk.

I vote that instead your family books a Disney cruise now, before the baby. You still get the fun and whimsy of Disney but without the heat and chaos of the parks. You’ll get some relaxation before the baby comes, and the family can still have some fun adventures exploring the boat, the beaches and doing excursions at the ports.

I would wait until your new baby is two or three. If you don't, they're going to end up being the biggest disney fanatic and super upset that they missed out on the trip.

I think you missed the optimal time window to take your kids. If they have never begged to go...why now? Going pregnant or with an infant would be a drag. Your 15 year old will be off to college in 3 years. Try a fun family trip to a new place instead.

Go in a few years. Little one will enjoy Disney magic and the bigger kids can take themselves off to rides and be independent, yet still part of family experiences too.

If your kids have shown no interest in Disney, do not go at all. If the kids want to go to Disney, I would much rather go pregnant than with a baby. Summer in orlando isn’t that much hotter than summer in DC, and totally managable if you break up your day by going to the parks early, leaving after lunch, spending the afternoon at the pool, and going back in when it starts to cool down after dinner. Pick a hotel with an amazing pool (there are many) and you won’t even feel like you need to go into the parks. If you book a Disney resort, you can also go to their water parks for free on check in day. We go often in the summer and just leave the park around 1/2 for the pool.
