This probably made sense in 2020. Not in 2026.

Bed party is not what I thought it was going to be.

We somehow managed to get through our kids’ college years without ever even hearing about such a thing.

Our youngest graduated last year - woot!

These things seem like they're just about buying stuff and performative consumption for social media. You could surely celebrate without spending the money and buying the plastic crap, right?

This explains why my SIL wanted to buy a school branded blanket for my DS. Both he and I could not understand the purpose.

Your taste is just God-awful, OP.

Plastic balloons and candy? Awful color combinations because those are the school colors?

Are you 5? I think 5 year olds might be the cutoff to appreciate such displays. These are not the intellectual cream of the crop posing in such photos.

I bet you're also salivating on photos of over-the-top professionally designed dorm makeovers. Probably plotting your next thread now, full of lurid photographs.

No, my DD isn’t a basic b1tch.

I asked my daughter what she thinks about this. She’s a junior. She said it looks childish. And the balloons look weird, they would look better without balloons.

Seen by her followers? That’s what these bed parties are for—social media.

I would be shocked if anyone did this and photos did not get posted anywhere.

No honestly she wouldn’t post, I think she would think that is tacky. But she loves to get like seasonal glasses from anthro with matching glass straws and make a fancy brunch for fun. I am sooo not like that so it’s not my default but I think it would make her feel special.

If it’s for social media, can’t you just make a picture using AI?
