Most women are pretty reasonable that job loss happens and will stick with you.
The problem is the men who lose their job, don't apply for new jobs or go back to work, and expect their wife to cover everything. There's dozens of posts on here of husbands who lost their job and refuse to apply for new ones. When I was younger, I had a BF who lost his job and after about 6 months of promising to get a new one (while watching p0rn and Netflix all day instead), started talking about how we should have kids and he can just be a SAHD. No thanks.
The fact that she expects a $200k salary as a starting point tells me this is not the kind of person I want by my side if I end up in financial hardship.
The ad basically says "im probably too good for you, but give me a call if you think you have what it takes".
No it doesn't say that at all. It says she has a ballpark of a certain lifestyle that she expects you to have as a couple. Or may be she already makes 200K and wants a partner who'll be comparable to her by the earning capacity, and, if the job loss happens, will be motivated to climb back in. I would think that men who make 200K are more motivated to provide than those with 80K salary . Which is fair.
