My husband vetoed Matthew for being too common and Carl because of bad family associations (racist, estranged uncle).

I vetoed Cai because I felt like it was too trendy. That was the right call because neither one of my kids would fit Cai.

The irony is Seamus would so fit our DS’ personality. Carmella was my grandmothers name and she went by Millie but DH wasn’t a fan. I had a mom hunch we were having a boy anyway so I didn’t push.

Seamus is a lovely name. You have great taste. Carmella for me will always be the Sopranos character.

Thank you for your service. To put this politely, your husband has bad taste. Wilson? Wilson is a last name. GROVER? Was he naming a human being or a golden retriever?! I don't even care that there was a president with this name. It's a full-fledged dog name at this point.

I know! I told him Grover is a dog, a muppet, a portly president, or an anti-tax advocate, and anyone who would slap that name on an innocent baby is insane. I think he was just extremely fond of Sesame Street.

This sounds like my son who used to write letters to Santa "Dear Santa, Please bring me a boa constrictor, a snow mobile (note we live in DC), and a lego Harry Potter castle", in hopes that the castle would seem reasonable in comparison and we'd ignore the price tag.

Gavin has never looked so good.

I have a Theodore. If we had known the name would shoot up in popularity a year or two after he was born, we would have picked a different name.

I can only think of Lyle Menendez when I hear that name. Probably because it’s not a super common name that you encounter everyday.
