No. That info is kept close to the vest.

Does anybody on the inside (teachers, admin, etc) know if they are talking about closing?

FCPS are probably going to do the same. A little bit of communication wouldn’t go amiss though.

I teach hs and remember sheltering in place for an extra hour or two once. Not so bad but then my kids are older; I wasn’t going to be on the hook for extra daycare fees.
We practiced the tornado drill last week—be aware that while upstairs classes come down to safer hallways the downstairs classes remain in their rooms which in many case do have windows. We are told to place students away from windows as much as possible. I have given this some extra thought. I can promise you I will do everything possible to keep my students safe and secure if a tornado is threatened.
Don’t expect your kid to get fed supper or anything from the cafeteria because those staff will be gone. Pack an extra granola bar in the backpack. Charge the cellphones and such.

Well good for you and thanks! I have to say depending on my kids teachers to “stay late with them” doesn’t seem like a good enough plan for me. Luckily, we live very close to our school and can pick up our one of our kids very quickly. The child whose school is further away, I would rather not send or pick up early. She would be very anxious staying at school late and I’m glad we can do that.

Who?

I checked all our nearby districts (APS, ACPS, PW, and Loudoun) and MCPS in MD and nothing. Maybe they mean much further south toward Richmond?

Metro Richmond and Central VA are closing.

Makes sense as I believe the forecast is potentially worse there.

Early release does not make anything safer. Either close or just hold school as normal.

+1. I don't need my HS driver on the road with winds and falling trees.
