Our go-bag stuff is in a rubber-made tote and a safe. We have water, filtering straws, food, radio, toiletries, medical kits, cash, documents, etc. a knife and saw but no guns.
Are you using the cash as toilet paper?

It’s more about having it in case of a nuclear plant having issues, and less about a bombing (also hoping we would quickly die in that scenario). But it’s peace of mind to have them. They last like 10 years and just sit in the medicine cabinet. I’m an emergency, the government is supposed to distribute them but I would rather trust myself on that one.

DMV we're most likely to get hit by some sort of dirty bomb (so very localized and no notice). Shelter in place would work for this kind of scenario. Obviously if we got hit by some sort of ICBM that is a different matter, but, there will not be enough notice to "evacuate." Your outcome will depend on where you are relative to the blast zone. I'm hoping it is a big blast to take me out quick, rather than lingering illness for 30 days.
That's because it is a MAGA town. If we ever had to evacuate the DMV, the council of governments would hold an emergency meeting to create a committee that would creae an evacuation plan. People would obviously be evacuated by need instead of privilege.
lol. Yes, based on the DMV reaction to covid, there would be literally be 1000s of people just waiting for the "government" to help them.
But a good evacuation plan would go a long way to assuaging the fears of the public. If they rushed, the committee could have a plan ready for review in a week or two.
What are we evacuating from? The weather? A nuclear bomb threat? An actual nuclear bomb? You make no sense. We are never evacuating an entire metro area, even with a good plan. Look at Hurricane Rita in Houston. It just isn't happening. You need to be ready to shelter in place.

It has a well, septic tank, two wood stoves, a generator, a tractor and any tool you could ever need. I always have about 100 pounds of propane and 50 gallons of gas in the run in shed, as well as rifles and handguns in a safe.
It's not an escape house as much as it is a weekend home that can function very well as a hideout.
It was built to be as self sufficient as possible. Neighbors on three sides are all large landowners so we are extremely well isolated.
No one will stumble upon us. And if they do, God help them.
Where is your primary home in the DMV? Is your plan to walk there in an emergency?
I'll get there. Don't worry.
