Clearly, we can't assume the same weather-related decisions should be made for Olney, Silver Spring, Bethesda etc. Stop having the perfect be the enemy of the good and the entire school system being paralyzed for issues in one specific part.

Yes, it is literally melting off the sidewalks and parking lots where we are. But why no plowing? If true, this is ridiculous.
I went by our school and the sidewalks are shoveled but the lots are not plowed. Very odd.

Anonymous wrote:The main issue tomorrow will be the ice from what melts tonight and refreezes overnight. Hopefully it's only a delay and not a closure. Tomorrow night and Wednesday will be warm so I don't think there's any risk of this going into Wednesday.

3-7 inches IS earth shattering in this area. Are you all new around here?? I'll be shocked if schools are open tomorrow.
Are you new around here? We've had far more than 3-7 inches in past snowstorms. MoCo is open today. I would be shocked if schools aren't open tomorrow.

the county hires contractors to plow its properties. It uses its plows for the thousands of miles of roads it is responsible for .Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Just passed by a middle school that has not been plowed. It may be easy to drive in, but parking can be challenging if the snow doesn’t melt and it’s not plowed.
Yes, if MCPS chooses not to plow its properties today it will be challenging to open schools tomorrow
County is open. They can request them to help to plow, if necessary and wanted.
