We seem to every year get at least one new kid that looks great doing all the drills and on the small fields in tryouts then gets out on the big field and keeps trying to repeat what they do in the drills over and over again. With no clue how to play.

It makes kind of sense for HS aged kids since they are moving into HS soccer in VA, but the younger players have a full spring season.
Arlington always looks for size and no technic. Probably they believe they can fix the technic. No wonder why their older teams eventually lag. You can’t fix technic because no club in this area fixes anything LOL.
Lots of churches offer free English lesson programs in the evenings. They don't discriminate between native speakers and ESL. You may want to check it out as you seem to be an advocate of "fixing" things and self improvement.
You post in the offers topic at 5 am? You must be very nervous. Keep checking this topic every minute waiting for that offer, your coach may make you the offer on DCUM. You may also keep refreshing that mailbox. Maybe, just maybe you will finally get that offer (NOT).

No such thing as locked starters

SYC offers started early, as they got an ID in before the ice/snow.
Low numbers for SYC
The smart kids and parents know SYC churns out professional kickball players and little else.
+ 💯
I am not smart but a little research shows they win early and kids fizzle out and don’t amount to much. It is a literal soccer graveyard.
