My god. Your reading comprehension skills are cooked. I never said "all BCC kids are up to grade level," I said the "proficiency problems are not as pronounced at B-CC" and it's true. Compared to the other high schools I cited, they aren't.

Explain to me what behavior demonstrated by these students would qualify as being brainwashed? Do we need to brainwash a teenager into feeling that denying citizens and non-citizens their due process rights is unconstitutional? Do we need to brainwash them into understanding that a badge doesn’t give someone the right to execute a person without a trial? These seem like common sense arguments and strong American values to me. But what do I know? I am just a Marine who spent 8 years fighting for and defending this US Constitution.
School is for education not for activism. My workplace won't allow political discussion. How is school different from workplace? They are supposed to get fundamental knowledge. Politics belong to elsewhere.
Kids had 5 days off due to snow + 2 days with 2 hours delay and then they decide to walk out? How is that smart?
I'd be more impressed if they did it before, after school or weekends on their own time vs. during school to skip class. Our kids teacher made it clear, it was a no at another school.
The point of protest is to disrupt the status quo....doing protests in a way that optimizes for minimal disruption and inconvenience is literally the opposite point of doing protest.
So nobody had to pass NSL Gov but me? How are this many grown people unaware of how our democracy works?
That's not really disrupting anything and disrespectful to teachers. I'm not ok with my children missing class time to protect for a protect no one is going to see. Do a real protest, outside of school.
I can't understand your message. Try rewriting it so that it's intelligible.
Also, you're free to have your kid sit out any protests they don't want to participate in. That doesn't give you the right to invalidate other students' choices and rights.

I am a big ACAB guy but even I draw the line at explaining violent rhetoric to students. I'm perfectly fine with them coming to their own set of opinions and beliefs. I'm not teaching kids to develop the same mindset it took 30-40 years for me to develop. They can do that on their own.

If student organizers approached school administrators and recieved permission I see no problems with a student walk out.
