How are you this dumb?
Streets have not been plowed, ice is covering them. It's under 20 degrees today tonight will refreeze again. Plows are getting stuck on side streets.
There will be no school maybe Friday.

Yes, I completely understand that residents are supposed to shovel their sidewalks, but that won't make them magically clear if they haven't, and a lot haven't. You can't just expect kids to walk in the streets as an alternative. (This is why I think the public schools, other than maybe DCPS, are going to be closed all week.) The sidewalk on the main road to our kid's school is now under about 3-4 feet of snow/ice from the snow plow, so there's no way that is getting cleared in the next week given the anticipated cold. Parents/school will get it sorted, but it won't be in the next day or two.

I emailed offering my preference for distance learning for Wednesday because our driveway is currently 2 inches of ice accumulated after it was cleared about 5pm on Sunday plus a solid 18-inch snowplow berm at the bottom, and my husband and I are not physically capable of clearing that due to back and knee issues. All of the local kids and professional services are booked up through tomorrow so we are on the list for Wednesday. We will not be able to leave the house Wednesday morning.
I’m sure our situation is not unique.
Seems strange you didn’t have anyone lined up in advance if you are not physically capable and have a kid in school. Sounds unique to me.
