And yes, there are some horrific examples of violence toward healthcare workers which is worsening over time and speak to a need for increased screening and protection of staff. Our hospital security officers carry guns and we have had shooting scares - someone pulled a gun in the ER or the ICU, etc.

But when I see videos of ICE, it is just jarring. There are zero standards for professionalism, appears to be zero training on how to deescalate a situation. While most of our hospital ecurity are excellent, as a nurse manager, I once kicked a new hospital security officer off of my unit because they were so arrogant and confrontational, they made a bad situation worse. I think of that when I see ICE.

Shouldn't even Republicans want to have basic professionalism standards and adequate training for federal officers?

Isn't part of the job description for ICE to NOT be too "nice" aka professional, courteous, not dumb, not cautious? I actually think that their recruits fulfill the "skillset" and ideal traits for the ICE of today's responsibilities.

Not suggesting that this is right - it's terrible - but just saying - I think it's what is desired

“ The sign on Kristi Noem's podium reads "One of ours, all of yours." The reader will recall that this was a fascist rallying cry in the Spanish Civil War. What it means is that one of "our" people is worth all of "your" people.
The question is, who is "us" and who is "you?" The sign on the podium also gives the DHS website, so it's reasonable to conclude that "us" is the DHS, and "you" is "the citizenry."
