A two year old losing weight and receiving no medical attention in relation to that is all you need. Yes, call. Foster care can be awful, but starving to death is worse.

I agree with calling. We used to live in Takoma Park and there were more than a few parents who didn’t believe in vaccination, homeschooled, followed really weird dietary restrictions, etc.

Tell her from a French person: we don’t believing in snacking but there’s a dedicated fourth meal typically scheduled at 4pm every day: “goûter.” And it’s typically sweet (cookies and milk) but the health driven parents will offer yoghurt or fruit instead.

What sort of things does she feed him at meals? Does he eat 3 normal meals a day or is it like egg whites and kale at those meals? No snacks won’t kill gin but he needs fats at that age for brain development and carbs and sodium too.


No pediatrician is going to see a child without paperwork and with a non custodial adult.

I believe this is the copout approach of many ill-prepared and lazy parents. I have a cousin that was clearly on the spectrum and was sent straight to Kindergarten with no pre-school. That kid lasted a week. Unfortunately, he is the oldest and it influenced the path of the next two siblings. They all missed so many opportunities for progress and intervention that can't be recovered. All because their parents couldn't accept reality.

Agree: call.

Please know CPS’s hands are tied on 2 issues (so please don’t mentioned them): homeschooling and refusal to vaccinate.

But malnourishment is actionable.

It’s also crucial to call early, as this poor kid’s development could be irreparably harmed.
