Nothing wrong with theatre. It's an art form.

Stamping about 60 now to mail tomorrow, have gotten about 7 so far and usually get 25 or so. I mostly receive them from people with younger kids. I sent a lot to older family members - I have many uncles and aunts. I know they are appreciated. My sweet grandma used to keep her stack all year and flip through it when she was bored <3

Plenty of people not on SM.

Thanks for letting us know that on a social website.

Am I posting pictures of my family on here? No I am not.

“Plenty of people are not on SM” was the ironic statement; no one said you were posting pics of your family on here. But here you are, on a social site, AGAIN, proving my point some more. Thanks, babe!

I just majors 120 yesterday. I’ve received maybe 12.

I stopped 3 years ago. Used to do about 60. I haven’t received any yet this year. My close friends and family know I’ll be in Mexico from the 20th to the 3rd.

I have mine, but haven’t done them yet. They won’t go out until the week of Christmas this year. I’ve received 2 so far.

To me a photo card is sufficiently personal. I like getting pics of friends and kids. Realtors and insurance agents don't send vacation pics.

I love the Tik Toks and Instagram posts this year that prove just how impersonal they are; multiple people admitted to goofing and forgetting to change the name of the pre-written message from the generic last name to their family’s actual last name. That is how impersonal and careless the whole process is. Vacation photos are for social media.

We don’t post any photos on social media so the only time you’ll see us is on a holiday card.

We also do not post photos on social media. Holiday photo card is a great way to show how much DC has grown over the past year. But we will stop sending when DC goes off to college.

Why?

I know lots of families that still send photo cards even though their kids have launched. Most gather for a summer vacation, party, or thanksgiving and snap the picture of the crew.

I have one in college and I’ve made clear that as long as I’m alive, we will gather and take a holiday card picture. We will add future spouses and kids to the mix accordingly. I went on to explain that I expect them to continue the tradition even when I’m gone…and think of me as they gather for the photo.

If you engage your family in the ritual and make it fun, it’s not a chore. Quite the opposite, actually.

I like this idea! We collect the ones we receive in a basket on the coffee table and people will flip through them when we are hanging out. I love receiving the cards and agree it's nice to see how kids have grown etc. I prefer the simple photo + well wishes vs the brag paragraph, but each to his own. I sent out 100 or so this year and I will use another 10-15 with teachers gifts. I don’t write a note, but I hand address them. The price of stamps this year was shocking and I have to admit made me think twice.

I just mailed 350. We have received about 50 but I know a lot of people who are mailing them this week. Our kids are at two different small private schools and most families send to the whole grade. We also send to our friends, neighbors, business associates, and many of our our parents’ good friends. We started our list with wedding invitations, revised it for each baby announcement, and now revise it each year for holiday cards. I know some people just put them in the trash and some people love getting them. I like sending them so don’t care what you do when you receive it. I love getting pictures of the families of old friends I might never see in person again.
