Would those crowing that this seizure today is perfectly lawful also defend China’s right or Russia’s right or another country’s right to seize American vessels based on sanctions they establish?
They already have. Trump and the republicans believe in “zones of influence” as per New National Defense Strategy. This means the US can do anything(target and murder civilians, blow of boats in territorial or international waters, take any cargo it want without compensation, etc.) within its declared zone. China and Europe can do the same. Sorry Taiwan. Russia being a weak and poor country is not able to project power and therefore can not control a zone.
So yes this is the new world order. The free navigation of the seas and rule of law are no more. When the US invades and occupies Venezuela we will be able to extract oil without paying royalties to the locals. We also can take anything.
This administration is hell-bent on dismantling the command-and-control structures of narco-trafficking routes that funnel illicit drugs in to the U.S. and have contributed to the drug-death catastrophe that kills 100,000 Americans every year.
Just think of it as Washington DC regulations for your pet agendas that you know and love so much. In short, FAFO.
It's a fool's errand to think that drug flow can be meaningfully interrupted, but then again we all know Trump is a fool. Where this is demand, there is a way.

Yes, we can and do seize foreign vessels.
If China wants to seize our vessels, try it. They are already starting sh** with Japan and South Korea overflying those countries and their territory as a threat.
BTW, the Venezuelan vessel in question is transmitting false location data as part of its tradecraft to avoid sanctions. Why are you defending them?

Venezuela has ZERO lawful claim here. None.

lol not one republican was talking about saving the drug users in the US before Trump started to blow up fishing boats. Now the only thing they will talk about is saving the drug users? Venezuela does not manufacture fentanyl.
Why did Trump stop all cooperation with drug intervention with Columbia? Guess he wants more cocaine in the US?
Trump and his republicans lackeys are idiotic grifters. This is what the end of the American experiment looks like.

Exactly.
Will there be a free-for-all on ships? Seize whatever you feel like seizing? Blow up any boat you think might be carrying drugs or illicit cargo or just ugly people you don't like?
No laws restrict the Trump administration, which controls the strongest military on the planet.
The logical extension is this: we better hope for, pray for, and somehow manifest a future where our status as the lone superpower persists indefinitely.
The history of what happens when empires lose their “king of the hill” status is not a pleasant one. Seems others always seem to be waiting to take turns returning the favor of past abuses.
We are rapidly losing that status, which is why the neocons are going after everyone they can before they can’t anymore.
They don’t plan to stick around and face the consequences of course…
