Not my understanding. BOE votes on the boundary study, that's all. The regional model is getting snuck in without a separate vote, which is why MCPS is insisting that the two are linked. BOE votes on whatever MCPS recommends, not the other way around. So if MCPS says they are the same, that's how BOE will vote.
Also, BOE has already washed their hands of the regional model. They call it "operations" which falls under purview of MCPS, not BOE. So they say.
The BOE leadership needs to be held accountable. They aready failed mcps and it’s only getting worse.

And given how moving Cabin Branch to Seneca Valley improved that school, moving Dufief and Travilah will definitely make QO a stronger school and improve region 5. Kids of Tiger parents will thrive in any school by outside tutoring and what not and those parents will make a scene and demand better education if the education is not up to par. This will improve the high schools those kids go to.
No room at QO. Would require even more boundary change to fit them.
Then they should do that. They should keep Crown as a new HS, move Dufief or Travilah or both of these schools to QO, move some other QO feeder ES with higher Hispanic population that are closer to Crown, to Crown, and move some Churchill feeders to Crown too. If they can screw Cabin Branch in spite of the buyers paying million dollars for a home there, they can do the same to Churchill and Wootton feeders too. Improve all schools by spreading the Asian population.

It does not and current Wootton parents are deathly against it. Wootton is screwed with every option. Wootton always had a target in its back because of the high Asian population. The county wants to spread out some of that brainpower.
I have no skin in the game but to me, Wootton cluster should be strongly supporting Option H. Sure, is it perfect? No. But it’s the only chance Wootton HS students will get to learn in a new, safe building in the 12-15 years. Renovation of Wootton isn’t in the current CIP and we know how easily and often school renovations are delayed even if they are in the CIP.
It keeps Wootton together and the location difference between the current Wootton and Crown isn’t much.
The question has now become choose a building or choose a Region/programs. The either/or choice harms Wootton.
