Fiction….if it isn’t fiction you got bigger problems dealing with a maladjusted child.

Why is everything you don't like fiction? My kid would not get out of the car when we were on the streets of Yale. Kids are spoiled or opinionated, whatever you want to call.

No one wants your stupidity at any college except maybe Liberty or Hillsdale fool

DP but it partly explains it. Most liberal school in the country and second worst in viewpoint diversity is going to exclude close to 50% from applying right off the bat. Typical liberal response immediately calling someone stupid though.

Most smart people are liberal. Conservatives are idiots who’s moral principle runs off the idea that we should oppress people who don’t look like us or believe in the same things as us.

Proving my point again. Stereotypes and name calling.

+1
Not to mention, terrible grammar.

It is in the middle of nowhere.

Based on its most recent CDS, Wesleyan's overall yield for students entering in the fall of 2024 was 34.8% and its RD yield was 17.3%. To arrive at these figures, I assumed an ED yield of 100%.

Yeah cause I don’t really respect your point. 1/2 of the applicant pool to top colleges aren’t conservatives. Conservatives are factually poorer and less educated in this country; if that hurts feelings, boohoo, pull yourself up.

If you wanna be represented, work hard, get a phd, and start working at one of these places- colleges like Wesleyan and Dartmouth are literally trying to DEI hire conservative professors, and you’re still complaining! What’s boring is the same annoying voices who weren’t ever considering any of these colleges (and don’t have the stats to get in) complaining that they aren’t fairly treated on these campuses when they have no actual demands other than people be kind to them as if the world owes you a damn thing.

Conservatives used to have academic merit, but they really hate their ideas being tested for truth and accuracy, so now they value the Charlie Kirk’s of the world where grown men debate college students about topics they’ve overprepared for, and Jordan Petersons, who don’t actually have qualifications in any of these areas they talk about.

As much as conservatives screeching about anything they don’t like being liberal.

Back in the 90s I was a working class kid who wanted a progressive school with strong academics but found the Wesleyan campus too grim or at least not what I had pictured when I envisioned my ticket out of the life I’d grown up in. Ended up at Brown, but I know a ton of Wes grads and have met their current president, who as others say is very impressive, and would be thrilled if one of my dcs ended up there.

Show me that you know nothing about college yields without saying that you know nothing about college yields.

You didn’t say anything, so I’m gonna continue on. A 25% yield is trash. Just because you like the school doesn’t make it any less trash.

Well, if this is the hill you’re going to die on, at least understand the data. Wes does not consider demonstrated interest like many of its peers. It also does not offer spring admissions to manage admission rate and yield numbers. It also, to my knowledge, does not tender exploding offers from the waitlist. Wes takes a bunch of kids ED and then doesn’t play games in RD. It just accepts enough kids to fill out the class. Isn’t that what everyone says they want? A real shot in RD? Wes doesn’t need to be defended, though. It’s doing just fine. People who want to discount it for silly reasons really just limit themselves

Almost none of the top liberal arts colleges consider demonstrated interest. The process of admission you described is most lacs-taking 1/2 the class ED and then some in RD. The point stands is that the yield is poor, so Wesleyan isn’t convincing the families it’s letting in RD-every school wants to improve that. We don’t need to agree on Wesleyan as an institution, but you should recognize that a low yield isn’t a great thing.

Well what you are saying is not really true. If you consider Wes to be a top SLAC, and I’m not sure that you do, then several notable peers (Hamilton, Middlebury for example) employ the tactics I described to manage their yield numbers. If you’re saying Williams has a much better yield than Wes, then sure. Pretty sick burn. My point is the school could absolutely play games to make the yield number better and it doesn’t and I think that’s admirable.

2 do. Not several.
