Start there.
What you do depends on if they are interested in the service aspect of it or if they are seeking control, praise and hero worship.
There isn’t much praise and hero worshipping going around these days for law enforcement. Everyone that gets pulled over thinks they know the law better than the law enforcement officer. They argue. They threaten lawsuits. They ignore lawful commands. That’s just the traffic stops.
You know what kind of people think officers enter the profession to exert control over others? Only the chronically entitled, arrogant, ignorant portion of our society that believe the rules don’t apply to them and are quick to demonstrate their complete lack of knowledge about policing.
Perfect example if your child expressed the attitude displayed by this poster they should be discouraged from entering the field.
If he listens to any manosphere or manosphere adjacent podcasts they should be discouraged from entering the field.

He'd consider too going in local and at 5 lateral to Fed, but pay isn't as good and most Fed LEO have mandatory relocation.
Ah, suckling at the taxpayer teat, I see.

Thanks to your son for his commitment to his community, and congratulations to your other children.
