Good grief. You have the patience of a toddler. ED decisions come out super early as it is. I'm glad I don't live at your house. Are you the type who puts up Christmas decorations weeks before Thanksgiving?

You're the one acting infantile. It is 6 weeks for ED decisions but then only a 2 week turn around until the next ones go in. Wouldn't it be nice to get likely letters for ED schools so that you know whether to waste gobs more time on this inane process? I think that poster means that by saying "get it over with" - find out and then plan. This is normal.

I am ready to hear and get it over with. DC’s apps are all in but he’s not really engaging in other possibilities until he hears from ED school. It’s an unlikely he will be accepted unless they truly are holistically reviewing the apps in which case strong test scores, rigor and teacher recs may off sets not-stellar transcript. But he will be fine whether or not he gets in.

Same here too. I saw a video of a girl opening her ED decision results. She got in, and began shaking in tears. Her mom was screaming and crying as well. The whole family was. This wasn’t AI either. I thought it was rather ridiculous.

I think I'm having trouble because we think our DD is a shoo-in for her ED school, but with a 20% acceptance rate anything could happen. It will, however, be a bigger shock if she's rejected or deferred than if she was going for a higher reach. Luckily the RD apps are mostly done, and her ED2 choice sent her a bunch of merch recently that's sitting around the house and maybe providing a reminder that there are other fish in the sea.

We were so nervous last year waiting for Chicago ED. Now that I'm on DCUM I've realized he was a shoo-in. We could have saved ourselves the anxiety.

Yes.

The rolling application schools started releasing weeks ago.

Pitt, Alabama, West Virginia, Mizzou are several of the rolling schools mentioned in other threads that had results out in a couple of weeks after submissions.

But how do you get your child to work on RD apps over the next week without it seeming like 'My parents don't think I'm getting in to my ED'. I really hope they get in, but also want to be realistic knowing how rejective the school is.

You tell them the more apps they send increases the possibility that they will have schools to choose from in the spring.

DC applied ED to his top choice school but also applied EA to several schools at the same time. And he’s already been accepted to one rolling admission school. He also has all of supplemental essays ready to go for RD should he get rejected or deferred from his ED school. While he’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t get into his ED school, we’re hoping that some acceptances in the EA round and having some great options he has tee’d up for RD will help soften the blow.

DC was told she was the only ED applicant from her school to her first choice, which takes 2-3 ED each year in the past. So this year it’s not popular at her school. She is not stressed.

No one in our home is nervous - feel pretty sure ds will get into his target EA school, maybe one of the other EAs. His ED is a far reach, and he will be totally fine if he is rejected or deferred. I think we are all interested to see where he would get in RD and allow him to visit all those campuses and decide after that. He has a good assortment of reaches, targets and likelies on his list.

Waiting for REA. Not stressed at all.
