oh look - it's the anti Beauvoir mom who is posting anti Beauvoir stuff on another thread. I'm sorry the "parent community" didn't work out for you. "we will be sad to leave.." haha. Yes, everyone will miss you so much because of all of the "good genuine friends" you made. But now, it's "unbearable". Yeah - "pull your kids".

It’s preK through 5, but Grace Episcopal Day School is warm and down to earth. There must be some families who are making money, but most of us seem like regular people who just feel lucky to give our kids the gift of a smaller and more nurturing community. There is also a lot of diversity and a lot of (low key) public speaking opportunities, which has been great for my shy kids.

Maybe someone already said this upthread, but the community at WES—particularly for upper elementary and MS was great. In younger years there are more families with significant wealth who could easily afford $$$ for private school from PK on up, whereas the families coming in a little later tended to be those who were seeking a particular type of educational environment. There are also quite a few international families and that, IMO, is a very important part of the down to earth vibe.

By the same Token showing off inclusiveness when in fact rich democratic families are not interested, otherwise they would encourage the admission of low income families in their bubble schools.

Which school has the least amount of mothers who have a ton of plastic surgery ,make-ups and fancy jewelries? Even though these things do not necessarily correlate with superficiality and lack of intelligence, they are rare in academics/thought leaders, and more prevalent in trump admins.

Agree that DC is for workers. People who do well, do well at their jobs and make very high net worth. I haven’t found many stay at home moms in the 2 privates we’ve been at.

My daughter is at Norwood and I agree.

The vast majority of families are very well off, but they’re generally nice. Of course, some are annoying but frankly I’ve found that everywhere.

When I grew up in Westchester County, NY, the public school parents were just as bad, if not worse, than the private school parents.

The problem is that there isn’t a lot of wealth in DC and when you get a group of UMC rich wannabes together it becomes toxic pretty fast.

Very wealthy people like in NY or LA DGAF. DC is not in this league. The true test is if there are a significant number of families with high net worths who don’t have to work or don’t work. No one moves to DC because it’s a great place to live. They move here to earn a living.

I’m sure the vast majority are lovely, but I’ve met some parents there who are very arrogant but like to give off the impression they are down to earth.
