I wouldn't attend a potluck because I don't have confidence in other people's cleanliness or food safety.. I've seen way too many people's cats walking on kitchen counters, way too many people walk out of public bathrooms without washing their hands, etc.

I hope you never eat restaurant food, because I have some news for you.

+1. Even our local Erewhon has had vermin.

If I brought home what I made, that sat out on a table for quite a while, had people touching it or poking around with various utensils of unknown cleanliness, I would throw it out as soon as I got home. Fighting over shit like this is about people not some crusty cake or bean casserole.
