It’s not a moral failing. It’s parents not feeding healthy food, not teaching good habits and kids who don’t have enough exercise. More of a parent failure.

My kid does sports 3-5 days a week and other activities that are physical and is still overweight. We eat very healthy at home and do low carb/sugar. We do some sweets and processed food but very limited. And, they don't eat big portions.

NP. Why are you giving junk food to your overweight child? Stop doing that.

Doesn’t often happen. I’ve taught for years and those situations aren’t common. I’d say 90% of my kindergarten students bring in pure junk. In the last few years, those Starbucks drinks in glass jars have become popular. The kids are 5-6 yrs old. If parents aren’t in charge of them at that age, have fun when they’re 15.

We did that and one of our kids is overweight anyway. He has had more doctors in his short life, starting at birth, than I've had in my entire life. So go ahead and judge, but we are parenting harder than you will ever have to, so be thankful for that and maybe give a little grace to people going through things you cannot imagine.

How do you know what other people are going through? People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Ironic

Don’t like the mirror being held up on you?

Different posters. Care to address the irony in your post?

No, didn’t think so.

In the DMV, no longer care about all the abysmal parenting I see.

Cannot wait to move somewhere else.

That almost never happens. Overweight kids have unhealthy snacks. Chips, sugary “yogurt” drinks, Halloween candy, pudding, taki, etc. (Some thin kids have this too and yes I judge those parents too.)

My kid was overweight through elementary school due to a medical condition. Nice to know people like you were there to support her.

Did she bring Doritos and KitKats for snack?

Did you read the previous comment asking about kids who bring healthy snacks?

Try to keep up.

Absolutely. A neighbor has four overweight kids but offers parenting advice.

I see her kids eating unhealthy snacks and they don’t play any sports. The nine year old has a visible FUPA and wears revealing clothing.

I judge when I see parents giving endless amounts of donuts, cake, bagels, etc and also judge when little girls wear clothes that are way too small/inappropriate when they are obese at young ages.
