As a parent I was required to provide my child's food. Those other items are one time purchases. Try again.

My kids are in high school now, so I am out of the trenches as far as childcare goes but I benefitted immensely when we were allowed to WFH and be present around my kids. Just me being there was a huge help to our family, even though I was working.

This is one tax I am willing to pay, it’s a shame that the richest country in the world doesn’t have decent programs to support working parents.

You should not be a parent unless you are financially able to support a child.

Then why are people upset about snap during the shutdown.

Why does that matter? This is about free child care. She has a child.

I will never vote for free childcare. Don’t have kids if you cannot afford it.

What about free healthcare or free lunches at school?

No, no - all these people voted for him and they're the same people who assure everyone that they're the smartest in the room, at all times. So they must know something we don't. Can't wait to watch all of this unfold.

I think I'll urge my adult kids to move to NYC and have kids now that they'll get free childcare, groceries, bus rides, and a rent-stabilized apartment. This is gonna be so great!

OP, of course she'll get free child care! Isn't that what Mamdani has promised! Also, free bus rides and free government-funded grocery stores. It's going to be great. Can't wait to watch all of this unfold!

Like the free PK4...you might not like the options when you see what they are. My niece got a bad lottery number and they ended up back in private and pre K

Lots of women in other states would kill for the rights she has in NY, and she didn’t even make use of it.

This is her own fault. She could’ve chosen not to be on this predicament. Other women in other places don’t get that choice. She sounds dumb and self absorbed.

She wanted a child. She utilized a donor. She pays all of her bills. She is a pediatrician.

Then she can get hired anywhere in the country for a much more affordable cost of living and probably make a hirer salary as well.

Having sex is a choice though, isn't it?

In far too many cases the answer to this question is no.

No. Means no. Unless you are saying that in far too many cases women are raped.

She covers her expenses and is a wonderful mother, thank you very much.

That's good to hear. Maybe she made the right choice for her life, given her needs and wants, but these choices involve compromises. What gives her the right to expect the rest of us to subsidize these choices?

She didn’t expect anything until the new mayor campaigned on it.
