Conservative fantasies about the all powerful military kill me.
Its not like this stuff hasn't been discussed and debated every time there is a shutdown and the GOP always comes up with "but the military" -

I am OP. Promise you I am not a conservative or a Republican. I believe our military is quite capable at handling these jobs. It’s also a better alternative than sending them to cities.
And if no to sending military to airports, how about sending them to NationalParks and keeping them open? Pretty sure they can clean restrooms and are pretty good at search and rescue.
FYI - also sure the military could do TSA duties since there is also a shortage with those agents.
You have zero respect for the amount of training our military do, and for skills and knowledge they have.
Pretty sure I am the only one here who respects their ability to perform the necessary jobs.
You suggested they could clean restrooms in national parks and fill in for TSA. You are absolutely not respectful of their training, experience, and expertise. No, you are not. At all.
You do realize in boot camp they are cleaning restrooms? Among other areas.
You realize those people are IN boot camp, being trained for jobs that don’t include cleaning restrooms?

I have an idea. Since our congressmen aren’t doing their job, why don’t they go clean the toilets?

those military pilots and acts aren't being properly paid either right nowAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I think all private planes should be banned during the reductoon of airline traffic. Except AF1/2 all other government employees should fly commercial
Rank and file government employees aren't traveling anywhere because they are furloughed.
Prediction: Any and all current "political" appointees at any level/position will begin commandeering military aircraft to use as private air transport for their boondoggles. They will claim the military is required to transport them because their jobs are so important they cannot risk being stranded somewhere by commercial flights.

The military has air traffic controllers for their bases and ships.
These are not the same at all. The sheer amount of commercial flights and regulations dwarfs the military. Remember a military helicopter slammed into a commercial flight in January. Remember? The military isn’t trained or equipped to do ATC.
MAGA is largely made up of people who just cosplay military on the weekend and think they understand it because they play video games and spend all their money on “tactical gear”.

Maybe. We’re now in the longest shutdown in history and the party in charge can only say the same BS every single day for 40 days now.
No Member of Congress wants to go home for Thanksgiving without funding air traffic control or restoring SNAP benefits. That's political suicide.
