I personally don’t prefer logos and monogrammed pieces, but I can appreciate how others love the look. No need to judge and no need to care. As long as everyone is happy spending the $$ on whatever floats his/her boat. I only take issue when ppl spend the $$ then complain about how expensive something is or they put it away in a closet to collect dust. There are far more better options to invest in than fashion. It is only worth it when you wear it because it is supposed to bring you (not others) joy.
I am glad no one recognizes my bags when I am out and about in this area. I don’t want or need them to. Those are my bags for me to carry not for them to gawk and judge.

Yes. Once you pay the private school tuition, not much is left for bags.

If I see a designer bag, I'll notice it -- but if the person doesn't seem to be wealthy, I will tend to assume the bag is a fake or that the person is paying way too much money to try to look like they are someone else.
I would say that my bag choices reflect my lifestyle. Practical and quality-oriented. My family pours money into education, and we are not rich.
It is human nature to judge m, but you really don’t have any business of assuming.
Anonymous wrote:I have a couple of $3k purses and also several that are in the $200 range. I tend to grab whatever best suits my outfit. The expensive ones I bought because I liked them and could easily afford them - I didn’t save up for them, or go into debt for them, or forego savings or investments or otherwise sacrificing for them. They are not any better than the $200 purses, quality-wise, and I think most people probably wouldn’t clock that they are $3k or afford me any status because of them. I just bought them because I liked them, could afford them, and decided to treat myself. I think you're overthinking this, OP. It’s not that serious.

Do you feel this way about someone who buys an expensive house? Goes on a nice vacation?

Same. Seems like a huge waste of money. If you are spending more than that on a purse, you are doing it for the status and nothing else. It’s a purely functional item. Unless the expensive purse is Hermione’s magic bag, there is nothing that a $1000 purse can do that a $50, $100 purse can’t.

I prefer lightweight, non leather, large bags…Longchamps, MZ Wallace have been just fine.
The late Nora Ephron carried a Metrocard bag.
