They agreed to abide by the Trump administration so-called anti-discrimination guidelines in terms of iuniversity programming, admissions, hiring, and other activities.
This is a BIG deal. I understand why they agreed - not agreeing would be catastrophic. But Trump is trying to reform higher education and UVA just signed on.
What did you think they should do? They have thousands of students and employees, a hospital, clinics, labs, etc. that rely on government funding. If they refused to negotiate, wouldn't they lose their funding and possibly pay a penalty on top of that? People have posted what Columbia and Brown had to do already. That would devastate a state school.

Why not stand up and say we aren’t doing any of this already and won’t be used as a pawn in your own fake news campaign? Says a lot about UVA.
Exactly!
The person trying to claim this is a “giant nothingburger” is some MAGA UVA grad trying to astroturf what really happened.
Because government investigations are extremely costly and disruptive, and if you can resolve one while giving absolutely nothing up, it almost always makes sense to do so. To resolve this one, they agreed not to violate the law in the future. Whether they signed or not, the government could still come back later and investigate if they violated the law later. This is truly a non-event.
For a “non-event,” as you keep insisting this to be, it certainly seems to be a widely news-worthy event to the press. Or will you now try to paint this as “leftist propaganda!” or some equally ridiculous claim?
This is a valid point. I googled it, and the AP is indecently reporting on this.

Doesn’t seem to be the “non-event” PP keeps claiming it to be.
