The Democrats look down on Republicans, and the Republicans can't stand the Democrats' disdain for them. It infuriates the Republicans because they can't escape from it. What you actually believe in is that might makes right. You think guns and shows of force and acting tough show strength and adherence to rules. What you are missing is that in order to grow as a society, dissent needs some space because it is through the tension of freedom and discipline that we can problem solve.
