Tell me you know nothing about how to fill a stadium or sell tickets without telling me you know nothing.

TV contracts are more important than selling tickets. Many top programs that aren’t in the LA area sell out their games regularly even without marquis programs like ND

November 30, 2024: 73,241 last game at the Coliseum in LA between USC and ND

Capacity 77,000

Couldn’t even sell out the stadium for their biggest traditional rival.

Perhaps not yet, but can they keep raising tuition to stay afloat - https://heterodoxatusc.substack.com/p/usc-faces-a-budget-crisis-its-an

Nobody decent is going to schedule ND towards the end of the season. Thats why they need USC more than the other way around.

USC can still schedule tough games, it just won’t be yearly against ND.

Notre Dame needs this game more than SC.

Agreed. However, ND can back into playoffs even easiernow since they won’t get a top tier team to play against every other year at the end of the season.

Of course they are not. Notre Dame should just join the Big Ten already and stop acting holier than thou. They don’t have the USC excuse anymore.

If they ever are forced to join a conference it would be the ACC Which short of the Ivy Lesgue has several elite schools Duke, Stanford, Cal, UVA, Ga Tech. They are already a proud member of the ACC in every other sport. USC needs the rivalry more than ND.

The ONLY reason Stanford and Cal went to the ACC was because they weren’t invited to the B1G and not because of academics. USC is in the big leagues now, they don’t need ND. You have it backwards.

Y'all have it backwards. ND is its own thing. It does not need a conference. It has a TV deal that makes as much money as a conference. They get tons of eyeballs so anyone will play them. USC needs them -- they just need to try to win once in a while. The playoffs are structured to get ND in. ND is the only team that controls itself. Things could change and they may have to jump. But I doubt it. I hate ND. But the facts are what they are.

When the SEC eventually goes to a 9 game conference schedule, they won’t have any room to schedule a team like ND. What would be the sense? There are no natural rivalries between them. Domer homers think everyone wants to play them at their discretion. NBC won’t host a team with weak scheduling because the ratings will slide. USC also doesn’t need ND. They are now in the Big Ten and that means big $$$. Things will change when the major conferences will be fed up ND sneaking into the extended playoffs every year.
