It’s wild that people think that everybody does this
I learned not to do this when I was in my early 20s. I started gossiping to a friend, and she said, "I'm trying really hard not to gossip anymore." That stopped me.
I'm a former athlete and, due to health problems, can't do my sport anymore. It's really hard and I haven't yet learned to reset.
As someone who tends to avoid gossip and focuses on my own work, I have come to understand the value of gossip, especially in a workplace setting. By distancing myself from those who are in the know—the so-called busybodies—I’ve inadvertently overlooked a wealth of important information. I don't want to be a busybody, but I do wish I had a better information pipeline. I hate always being the last to know.
